The Brothers of The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter, are proud to announce our Nathaniel A. Murray Scholarship Awards. Manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind are the aims of our fraternity. In keeping with the organization’s principles, we annually award several scholarships to eligible high school students enrolled in District of Columbia public schools. The scholarship is named after one of the seven founders of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Nathaniel Allison Murray, who taught at Armstrong Vocational High School in the District of Columbia.
We anticipate multiple scholarships and awards ranging from $2,000.00 to $5,000.00 to be given to exceptional high school scholars.
Eligibility
All applicants for the Distinguished Scholar award must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Washington, DC
- Be currently enrolled in a D.C. Public School, DC Public Charter School, DC Private, or a homeschool student who resides within the District of Columbia.
- Be classified as a graduating high school senior for the current academic school year
- Exhibit outstanding character and moral values
- Have a strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Have exemplary involvement in and service to their school and community
Completed applications MUST BE TIMESTAMPED NO LATER THAN May 1, 2026, 11:59 pm EDT. The application will automatically not accept any applications not submitted before the deadline.
